From the Darkside: Heavy Metal in Santa Barbara

THIS is RadioMatt, in his own words:

I'm perpetually tortured soul, mostly because I live in Southern California. [Ed. note: He's also whiney.] I was born into a Mormon family of 26 children, in Utah California, but my father could not remeber which of his eight wives had birthed me. Thrown out of the family at the age of twelve for daring to question why 10% of my $1.50 in allowance money had to go to the Church, I was raised by wolves in the Sierra Nevada mountains.

At age 14 I was arrested by a park ranger who spotted me running naked on all fours through campsites. I was forced to live with Catholic Priests in San Francisco then, but I was tosssed out onto the streets when I refused to accept a preist's offer of a "special communion." I spent the rest of my teen years wandering around the streets of San Fransisco, living off the good will of others, until one day a man offered me admission to University of California at Santa Barbara. Thus I relocated and found that he was unaccepted in Southern California, because -- amongst many other things -- I was not a pox on humanity.

At age 21 some idiot at a radio station [KCSB] put me in front of a microphone and said "Perform!" It was both my greatest moment and the station's worst at the same time. For the last two years I've been forcing good music on the deaf people of Santa Barbara, CA.
