so ... you're this curious, huh? in a nutshell, i'm jessica, a 20-something college grad, sometimes-engineer, mad scientist extraordinaire. i shoot pool, throw darts, listen to heavy metal (and quite a bit of other stuff, i might add), dig my new (used) silver car, and try not to blow my money on impulse buys (failing miserably). i enjoy and appreciate the silly and the ridiculous. without a sense of the absurd, i'd have gone mad a long, long time ago.
i run SUPER expensive instruments (like a SEM [scanning electron microscope]) when i work making real money. i grew up in LA (south bay; harbor city) and consider LA to be my home. after four years in santa barbara (at UCSB), i returned with a piece of paper with the letters bee-ess on itand a lease on a 2br place in culver city. and now, as of january 2004, i've got another piece of paper from CSULB with the letters em-ess on it. i rule. 
i share my abode with my roomie (carrie). we got stuck together randomly during her freshman year (my sophomore year) in the dorms. we shared a crappy 1br place in IV for 2 years, before i graduated. she moved into another crappy 1br place and i moved home for 6 months. in december '01, we moved into the new apartment and (according to bryce) i'm never allowed to move again. music is a big thing for me. i never really got into the MP3 trading thing, but i own 300 or so CDs. (blessed is ebay!) i'm a geek, to be sure. i bought UrbaneMonkey.com on a whim, because i wanted claim a domain. (i'm really thinking about getting mynakedchicken.com, too, just for shits and giggles.) i laugh at physics, math and engineering jokes, first because i get them, and second because i realize just how ridiculously nerdy that makes me. i don't mind being nerdy. it feeds the mad scientist in me. 
i've travelled quite a bit for my age. in summer '01 i spent two weeks in new zealand and australia. i promise, i swear, that some day i'll get the pictures organized and uploaded. that was a great trip. more recently (march/april '04), i spent two weeks in germany, austria and the uk. that trip was particularly lovely (and expensive) and those pictures are phenomenal, too.
[time elapses] i don't even know what to include here anymore. it's been so long since i had to construct a summary of myself for the world at large that i do believe i've forgotten just how to do it. if you want a deeper picture, read my LiveJournal.
